Alex Bevacqua, M.D.
Dr. Bevacqua received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1989 and his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1994. Following medical school, he completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at Nassau County Medical Center in New York, where he trained in medicine and surgery of the eyes and served as chief resident.
Dr. Bevacqua is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been in private practice since 1998, specializing in medicine and surgery of the eyes. Dr. Bevacqua performs state-of-the-art surgery, including no-stitch cataract surgery and custom cornea LASIK. Dr. Bevacqua has personally performed thousands of surgical and refractive procedures and is highly regarded among his peers as being a premier eye surgeon, receiving surgical referrals from regional ophthalmologists. Dr. Bevacqua also spent several years during his training at a regional trauma center treating traumatic eye injuries. Dr. Bevacqua has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.
Dr. Bevacqua is a diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been listed as a top Ophthalmologist by “The Consumer’s Research Council”.
Robert Wertheimer, M.D.
Dr. Wertheimer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. After medical school, Dr. Wertheimer completed a three-year residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He became board-certified in Internal Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned the distinction of scoring in the top decile of physicians nationwide.
Dr. Wertheimer completed three additional years of advanced training specializing in medicine and surgery of the eyes at Nassau County Medical Center in New York, where he also served as chief resident. Upon completion, he earned the distinction of becoming double board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Wertheimer has been in private practice since that time, specializing in medicine and surgery of the eyes. He has performed thousands of surgical and laser procedures, including no-stitch cataract surgery and LASIK. He has extensive training and a special interest in cataracts, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. He also spent several years at a regional trauma center and has extensive experience in treating traumatic eye injuries.
Dr. Wertheimer is a diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been listed as a top doctor in regional publications, and has received a patient’s choice award for outstanding patient feedback.
Priyal Shah, M.D.
Dr. Priyal Shah is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who focuses on cataract and refractive surgery.
She graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a degree in biochemistry. During college, she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor society as well as the Phi Lambda Upsilon National Chemistry Honor society. She went to medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical school where she graduated in the top quarter of her class and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. While in medical school, she conducted additional research at the University of Pittsburgh studying glaucoma.
After completing her medical internship at Medstar Health Washington Hospital, she attended Geisinger Medical Center for her ophthalmology residency training. During her final year, she was selected to serve as the sole chief resident for the residency program.
She has published numerous manuscripts and presented her work at national conferences. She is an active member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Seema Shah, O.D.
Dr. Shah received her Bachelor of Science from The George Washington University, where she graduated with honors. She earned a presidential scholarship to attend the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received her Doctorate of Optometry degree in May, 2013. She completed her clinical training at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lyons, NJ, The University of Maryland Eye Associates in Baltimore, MD, The Feinbloom Vision Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia, PA, and the Liva Eye Center in Ridgewood, NJ.
Dr. Shah performs Comprehensive Eye Examinations, manages and treats various ocular diseases and emergencies, and fits contact lenses, including spherical, toric, and multifocal lenses. She treats patients with ocular surface diseases such as dry eyes, diagnoses, and treats glaucoma, as well as co-manages post-operative cataract patients.
Dr. Shah is board-certified in both the state of New Jersey and New York. She is a member of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians.
Elvira Levit, O.D.
Dr. Levit holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Hunter College. She received her Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and Doctorate of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, where she earned honors for all her clinical externships.
Dr. Levit has extensive experience in treating and managing ocular disease, pediatric exams, contact lens fittings including keratoconus lenses, rigid gas permeable lenses, and lenses for astigmatism and presbyopia.
Dr. Levit is a highly accomplished therapeutic optometrist and serves patients through her commitment to excellence, innovation, and personalized service in patient care. Outside the office, she is usually traveling, hiking, skiing or hang-gliding.
